BOC – Cylinder Reconditioning

BOC, a member of The Linde Group, supplies compressed and bulk gases, chemicals and equipment throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. The company develops safe, sustainable and innovative solutions for customers in many specialty sectors, heavy industry and medical environments.

BOC were looking for a local engineering machine shop to help in the reconditioning of their gas cylinders with precision CNC machining and CNC turning. Their aim was to prolong their working life and reduce their waste.

TR Savage & Son were up for the challenge. We already had the right machines for the CNC turning of the bottles of various sizes and CNC machining of new collars all while keeping to BOC’s tight tolerances. Working alongside BOC, our machining engineering team developed a process to take batches of cylinders in, machine them and fit new collars on a day-to-day timeframe.

Our close proximity to BOC’s main Sydney gas works meant less time in transit and the ability to react quickly to any situation. Being a Quality Assured precision machining company was very important to secure the work and inspection of the collars and bottles through the process is of up-most importance.

Knorr-Bremse – Parts Supplier

Knorr-Bremse AG serves as an umbrella corporation encompassing both business divisions, Rail Vehicle Systems and Commercial Vehicle Systems. Business operations are controlled by the regions of Europe, North America, South America and Asia/Australia. This organisational structure is designed to offer customers of both divisions standardised and globally tried-and-tested technical platforms, in consideration of local market and customer needs.

When Knorr-Bremse was looking for a quality assured, 5 axis CNC machining, manufacturing and engineering company in Sydney, back in 2004, to become a trusted and reliable supplier TR Savage & Son ticked all the right boxes.

They were looking for a machining engineering company that could undertake the CNC turning and CNC milling of multiple parts in many different materials, from brass to stainless steel while keeping tight tolerances and handling any finishes that were required.

With our array of CNC machining equipment and our skilled engineers and machinists, we are able to meet Knorr-Bremse’s requirements for precision machining of CNC parts. Our three 5 axis Mori Seiki CNC lathes also helped as we can produce parts 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, keeping up with the demand and stock levels needed. With our inspection process running through production, we can assure Knorr-Bremse they are getting their CNC parts right on specification.
